I recently met Bailey, a rescued dog who was getting adjusted to her new home. Oh those eyes! They were filled with questions, anxiety, and hope. You could see she just wanted to be loved and know she wasn’t alone. We can probably all relate to that, don’t you think?

We have separation anxiety with the world. We don’t want to feel set apart sometimes due to material possessions or that we aren’t “in tune” with worldly cares. Relationships can make us feel separated from others as well. Maybe we want a certain relationship but just can’t get it. Maybe it is the other way around. We don’t want that type of relationship yet the world puts pressure on us to do so. Yes there are times we want to be alone but more often we ache to be loved and cared for, to be told it will all be okay. Just like Bailey.

Bailey has busted through a screen to get out of the house. Did she run away? No. She just wandered around the yard. We do the same when we veer away from God. There are times we turn our back on Him and ignore Him just to wander not far from home. Other times we’ve run away as far as we could get from His presence. No matter where we run though He is still right there with us.

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,’ even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.” (Psalm‬ ‭139:7-12‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

God is passionate about rescuing. He has done it before and He will do it again. Hear it from the Israelites who returned from their Babylonian exile. Hear it from King Darius as he witnessed Daniel’s rescue. Hear it from the mouth of Job who was truly alone in the world aside from God.

“He sent His word and healed them; He rescued them from the Pit.” (Psalms‬ ‭107:20‬ ‭HCSB‬‬)

“ ‘He rescues and delivers; He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth, for He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.’ “(Daniel‬ ‭6:27‬ ‭HCSB‬‬)

“ ‘God rescued me from the grave, and now my life is filled with light.’ ” ‭‭(Job‬ ‭33:28‬ ‭NLT‬‬)
